Donald Keating’s initial interest in Bigfoot began after he read one of John Green’s books on Sasquatch. Keating became instantly fascinated with Midwestern Bigfoot activity and went on to found and direct the Eastern Ohio Bigfoot Investigation Center, or EOBIC, which has its headquarters in Newcomerstown, Ohio, he also founded the Tri State Bigfoot Study Group.
Starting in 1992 he has published the Monthly Bigfoot Report which outlined regional, as well as international events dealing with unknown hairy hominids. He produced a video documentary in 1998 entitled Sasquatch: The Mounting Evidence and has written several books on the topic. During the height of his investigations Keating was frequently interviewed by radio programs, operated several websites, held monthly meetings and hosted the largest annual Bigfoot conference in the United States. In December of 1998 the Bigfoot Times named Donald Keating Bigfooter of the Year.
In 2004 after devoting nearly all of his adult life to the search for Bigfoot Keating began to show signs of giving up on the hairy beast. He had traveled to British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, Pennsylvania and West Virginia all in search of Bigfoot. He purchased night vision gear and recording equipment in an attempt to document the elusive creature, he has spent 1000 of hours in the wilderness and all with out finding one shred of evidence to support the existence of Bigfoot.
Though still a believer in Bigfoot Keating is running out of steam in the search, stating that there are too many researchers out there who are at each other’s necks and won’t share research. It has become more about boosting ones own ego and fame then finding the answer as to whether Bigfoot does or dose not exist. And so Donald Keating has turned his ambitions to finding a job in radio of meteorology, his Bigfoot group no longer meets monthly and he no longer attends his own conference each year. Though Donald Keating has become fed up with his search his contributions to the Bigfoot community have endured.
